My Little Ballerina
Zoë had her first ballet/tap class last Friday. I was so excited. Actually, we were BOTH excited. Me, because it would be SO cute to see her all dressed up in her little outfit. Awwww. Her, because she loves to dance. She says "I need to dance!" at least ten times a day. That is pretty much her standard answer for anything I ask her to do.
Zoë and I went to the dance store on Thursday and picked out shoes, leotard, tights etc. It was so sweet. She sat so patiently while the shop keeper fit her for her ballet shoes but kept asking, "I go pick out a dress now?" When we got home I let her put her new outfit on and watch The Twelve Dancing Princesses. She was in heaven.
That is why I was so surprised by what happened at her class. Take a little peek.
You will notice my little angel (I use the term loosely) crawling along the mirror while the rest of the class was listening intently to the dance instructor? Did you also notice her running along the mirror with a big smile on her face? Oh yes, she had a grand time running back and forth in front of the mirror. That is pretty much what she did for the entire class. She completely ignored the teacher. Completely.
I have the unruly child that will not pay attention. In retrospect that shouldn't have surprised me. I love her more than life itself but sometimes she has the attention span of a goldfish. Example: The other day she was enthusiastically singing "Part of your World" from The Little Mermaid when she stopped mid-sentence and said, "I need to go potty" and darted off into the other room. She is JUST like her father.
I really did think that she would be so inthralled by the dancing that she would be able to focus. Apparently not. I am going to take her again this Friday and if we have a repeat performance I will remove her from the class. It is not fair to the other children and must be frustrating for the teacher. I am going to keep my fingers crossed because she is just so darn cute in her little outfit! I had visions of her performing in recitals but that may have to wait for a couple years.

Zoe's cuteness in that ballerina outfit totally makes up for her lack of attention span! I can't help but crack up at that second picture!

How adorable is that little BUN !!! Of course she is looking at herself - how could she help but 'appreciate' how amazing she looks!!

Zoe and Kenzie would get along famously! LOL! Kenzie's been begging me to put her back into dance class and after the way she behaved in class and at the recital, I'm just not ready yet. Hopefully Zoe will turn it around this week (fingers crossed).
