Please Pass the Kleenex

Oh my goodness, so much to share....so much to do....I wish I didn't feel like my head was going to explode at any moment. Ugh. I caught Kelly's bug. I don't know what kind of bug. Is the plague a bug?  He has been sick for almost a month now. We both went to the doctor on Monday. Him for a new stronger antibiotic (because he had already finished the first round and he only got worse). Me for my very own prescription. I can't even tell you the last time I had to get an antibiotic. I haven't no clue. This sucks. That is pretty much all there is to it. Why do you always get sick when you have tons to do? I seem to be getting quite a few things checked off my to-do list despite the fact that I feel like death.

  • Schedule carpet cleaning
  • Make reservation for boarding the cats
  • Select paint colors
  • Get estimates for painting master bathroom, master bedroom, living room, kitchen and guest bedroom
  • Schedule painters
  • Schedule template making of kitchen and master bathroom counter tops
  • Return tile samples
  • Select tile for master bathroom and kitchen back splashes
  • Find someone to install new flooring in dining room/kitchen
  • Fill up gas tank
  • Buy curtain rod for bedroom
  • Check emergency supplies and restock if necessary
  • Make dinner
  • Do laundry
  • Find Zoë's green glasses
  • Put bedroom back together
  • Make a Costco run
  • Bring outdoor flower boxes in for the winter

My Dad is coming up for a visit on Saturday. I am so excited! He hasn't been up to see me since Zoë was born (three and a half years ago). Yes, we did just go down to California to see him, but I would like him to see our home. To see what we are like at home. You know? Kelly and I were given four tickets to the Seahawks football game this Sunday so I am taking my three favorite guys: my honey, my Dad and my brother. It should be fun despite the fact that the Seahawks have been sucking it up this year. (Don't I totally sound like I know what I am talking about? I don't. Trust me on this one. My brother filled me in).  The weather should clear up by Sunday. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

There is one small problem with my Dad visiting. He is horribly, terribly, extremely allergic to cats. But not to worry. I have a plan. I am having the carpets cleaned on Friday, and while the carpets are being cleaned I am taking the cats to the Pet Hotel about ten minutes away. I have never boarded our cats before. When we go on trips we just fill up their food and water and call it good. They haven't complained so far. ;) The Pet Hotel is very reasonably priced. I was pleasantly surprised. I don't know why I thought it was so expensive. I have never wanted to do it in the past because we got Archimedes at the Humane Society and I don't want him thinking that we are dumping him there forever. The Pet Hotel looks pretty sweet. The cats will even have adjoining rooms. Seriously.

The fact that my Dad is coming on Saturday and seeing our home for the first time has thrown me into a bit of a tizzy. I'm neurotic like that. So what did I decide needed to be done before our house was presentable? Oh, just that we must paint the master bedroom, master bathroom, living room, kitchen, dining room and guest room. I fully admit it that I am crazy, but I can't help it. In the end, we went with just the master bedroom and bathroom since those were the rooms we had chosen a paint color for. That was done yesterday and I love it. Much better than the light blue it was previously. What was I thinking with blue?

And with that I will say good night. I am off to double check our emergency supplies and power off all non-essential appliances/computers. We are having another wind storm tonight/tomorrow. The weather report is telling everyone to be prepared for power outages. Lovely. (My Dad is going to LOVE that. Hopefully he isn't checking the weather forecast). I brought our emergency supply bin in this afternoon and we are all stocked up with batteries, crank powered flashlights and radio, candles, medical supplies, non perishable food, glow sticks...we are set. Hopefully we won't have to use them though. Well, maybe for an hour or so... Not having power for about an our is fun. :)
