Just Keep Swimming
Every time I hear that phrase it reminds me of Dory. In fact, it is stuck in my head right now. (And probably yours too. Sorry about that).
I mention this for two reasons.
One, our house is still under construction. On a lesser degree than it was, but we still have the contractor/handyman at our house pretty much every day. I just can't relax having a stranger in my house. He is a very nice man, that is not the issue. But I feel like I am always "on" when we have company. Any company really, with the exception of my Mom and our friend Bob. Kelly and I are also having a minor disagreement about the floor. Floor installation specifically. I think having it installed this weekend while we are gone would be fabulous. Kelly is uncomfortable having people in our house while we are gone. I understand where he is coming from, I do. He doesn't want anything stolen, but that is why contractors are licensed and bonded... And we could come home to beautiful new floors without dealing with the mess. If we don't have it installed this weekend who knows when they can fit us into the schedule. Ugh.
I really need this remodeling to be done. Today marks the fourth week and it is starting to get to me. I think I've been having anxiety attacks the last two days. My heart keeps racing (like when you are nervous or really excited about something). Is that an anxiety attack? Frankly, it is annoying me. Maybe I should cut back on the caffeine consumption?
End of pity party.
Now for the fun bit of swimming news. Miss Zoë is a swimming superstar. I signed her up for lessons this summer and we have kept them going. She enjoys them so much that I figured, why not? Zoë had her evaluation during the last class and my little swimmer is moving up three levels. (The best part? It is a preschool class that does not require me to get in the pool too. Sweet!) She shocked me yesterday when she said, "Mama, I swim by myself" then proceeded to push away from me and swim by herself to the edge of the pool. Holy crap! I didn't know she could do that! I am glad that she enjoys the water so much. I am going to keep her in weekly lessons as long as she likes. There is no reason why she should only take lessons in the summer time. After all, it's not like she is busy taking ballet lessons or anything. Ha!
Alrighty, I am off to paint color samples on the walls. Good times. Kelly told me to pick a color that I really like because we are not painting again. Ever.
(Side note: The flat wall paint that our previous handyman recommended sucks. Flat paint is the devil. I will never use it again. I have to touch it up every couple weeks or it looks terrible. I swear, it scuffs if you brush up against it. Lame, lame, lame).

Hear, hear on the flat paint - it was a royal mistake for our dining room! As for the handyman, you get my vote! Just have him lock the office if he is really concerned, and put anything else in there he is concerned about- that has got to be easier than working around a floor installation????

Here's sending you some positive remodeling finish it all vibes. :D And yes, flat panel is the work of some sinister individual ... who has no kids. :P
I'm glad Zoe loves to swim! I just read the post about the ballet and that is super funny - you poor thing. I was just thinking about taking Lita out of gymnastics and putting her in dance classes. But who knows. It's just good when they find something they are naturally good at. Go Zoe!!!

I hate flat paint to. It gets sooo dirty and you can't really clean it. What if you asked a friend to hang out at your house while the floor was being done? You might owe some major favors later, but it might be worth it!
